As part of our busy Contract Packing operation the Contract Packing Manager will be responsible for managing the department, ensuring our customers receive a first-class service. Orders are received and processed in a timely manner. Managing the team to process goods in a timely and efficient manner to meet customer demand. The role will cover all aspects of people management including motivating, training, coaching and disciplining staff to deliver maximum productivity with a clear focus on Health and safety, Quality, efficiency and profitability.

Day to Day
- Ensure the operation complies with all legislative and ethical standards with regards to safety, hygiene, quality and staff management & welfare.
- Responsible for leading, motivating and organising the contract packing department, ensuring daily targets are achieved and customer orders are produced on time in full to the highest quality standards.
- Ownership of department budget, driving performance and ensuring delivery within or exceeding budgetary targets
- Promotion of the effective cross functional team working between manufacturing, commercial and support functions.
- Proactively shape and manage the structure, culture and behavioral values to ensure the department is well placed to respond to current, and future, market demands and technical opportunities.
- Understand, challenge and seek to improve on industry “best practice” to drive continuous improvement philosophy within the department.
- Drive first class customer service. Working closely with our customers and driving innovation.
Safety/Quality / Hygiene
- Exhibits role model behavior, defines and promotes expected behavioral standards within your team of direct and indirect reports.
- Support a culture that enhances behavioral awareness to reduce accidents and increase near miss reporting.
- Perform management audits and inspections to ensure safety, quality, environment, hygiene and engineering standards are adhered to.
Performance
- Accountable for departments performance – safety, quality, customer service, stock management, delivery on time in full and budgetary aspects.
- Applies situational leadership and uses performance management with individuals in a timely manner when necessary.
- Drive systems and controls to ensure a quality production facility is at the forefront of all activities. Promote continuous improvement to both reduce customer complaints y-o-y,
- Control of direct costs and overhead expenditure in line with agreed budgetary targets.
People Management
- Through structured recruitment, training and development of staff – build a team that operates self- sufficiently to consistently high standards. To provide for the future needs of the department and individuals, by promoting a high achiever philosophy through a tailored PDP
- Goal align key performance indicators for all direct reports and monitor through PDP process.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive integration of support functions into the Contract Packing facility, ensuring the overall quality, operational and customer service in the department Is elevated.
- Develop and drive key performance indicators heightening role responsibility, increasing performance and customer service levels within budget.
- Progress agreed continuous improvement plans in line with the growth and innovation of the department.
What will you bring?
- Previous experience in a Management position preferably within a production, co-packing or food environment.
- Strong knowledge on health and safety procedures and the ability to lead from the front, promoting a health and safety culture across the department.
- Good knowledge of quality management systems and experience of managing departmental budgets.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to create focus within a team.
- Strong motivational skills with an ability to drive performance with a focus on safety, quality and customer service.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and SAP
- Excellent numerical skills
